Reading

Listening

The Listening section of the IELTS test is approximately 30 minutes long and consists of 40 questions divided in 4 sections of 10 questions each. The difficulty level gradually increases with each section. Each correct answer is awarded 1 mark. In the paper-based test, candidates are given an additional 10 minutes to transfer their answers to the answer sheet.

Speaking

The IELTS General Training Speaking test is a face to face conversation that lasts for 11–14 minutes and is divided into three parts:

Part 1: Introduction and Interview - The examiner asks general questions about your home, family, work, studies, hobbies, or background to help you ease into the conversation.
Part 2: Long Turn - You will be given a topic and 1 minute to prepare. Then, you must speak on the topic for 1–2 minutes without interruption.

Writing

The IELTS General Training Writing test lasts for 60 minutes and consists of two tasks:

Task 2: You need to write an essay of at least 250 words in about 40 minutes, presenting your opinion or argument on a given topic.
